Spring Forward Food Drive
Twenty-nine years ago, Lary Adam, founder of the massive year-round food drive known as Harvest for the Hungry, began focusing on Maryland’s food-insecure population. Larry’s motto was “hunger doesn’t take a holiday,” and realized that food drives are needed year-round. Unfortunately, Larry passed away in September of 2013, but his legacy still carries on.
Come out to support this year’s Spring Forward Food Drive. It will run from Saturday, February 27 through Saturday, March 5 at Safeway stores across Maryland, where you can purchase a pre-packaged bag of food for $10. Some locations will also have volunteers from Girl Scouts of America and AARP. U.S. Post Office locations throughout the state will also accept donations for the food drive.
Harvest for the Hungry has collected more than 30 million pounds of food for hungry Marylanders and millions of dollars. Under Larry’s leadership, Harvest for the Hungry has collected more than 30 million pounds of food and more than $1 million for hungry children and families.
